About UsOur former location was in the old Union Station in Winston Salem. We are currently located at 235 Kapp Street in Winston Salem
Davis Garage was founded in1939 by A.E. “Gene” Davis in a one bay garage in the center of downtown Winston Salem. We developed the old passenger train depot at 300 Martin Luther King Drive to perform auto repair and towing services. Our building was taken by imminent domain on July 25, 2012.
We regretted the loss of the train station facility that we had owned for almost 40 years but you can visit us at our new location on 235 Kapp Steet across from Parrish Tire.
A.E. Davis was a founding member of the Independent Garage Owners of North Carolina. He was also the inventor of one of the first tow trucks in the United States. We have the distinction of being the 73rd oldest established towing company in the country and have been entered in the Towman 50 Most Experienced Towers in the United States. Harvey Davis, the second generation and current leader, is a founding member of the Towing and Recovery Professionals of North Carolina. He is also a long time member of the Towing and Recovery Association of America. Davis Garage has undertaken the mission of doing excellent work at a fair price while promoting trust with its customer. Give us a try and see what a difference that experience can make.
We have had the unique privilege of owning the railroad depot and operating our business from this location since 1977. The depot is a registered historic landmark and we love to show it to our friends. Come by and enjoy the atmosphere and see history from our perspective.
